Inflatable Hot Tub = Quarantine Lifesaver

Well, it’s looking like everyone is going to be stuck at home for the long haul. While people are knee-deep in house projects and redecorating, there’s one purchase we made during our stay-at-home order that has been a God-send. Our inflatable hot tub. I know what you’re thinking, is that really a thing? Does it even work? I’m here to tell you yes - yes it is and yes it does!

We’re renting our house right now so getting a traditional hot tub was just not in the cards, not to mention the price and the work involved just seemed like a lot. So the inflatable option was perfect!

Full disclosure, my husband Jake did most…ok, all of the set up, so while my knowledge is not quite as in depth as his, I included everything he did before I was able to reap all the benefits. Ha! Here are the most common questions I’ve gotten on social media…

What’s the set-up like?

1) Inflate it

2) Fill it with hose water

3) Add the chemicals, and wait for it to heat up! (Usually takes about a day but once it’s hot, it stays that way).

Does it really work?

Yes! The temp goes all the way to 104 degrees and it has jets! Besides built in-seats, it has all the benefits and works the same as a regular hot tub.

Is it sturdy?

This is not your child’s inflatable kiddie pool that deflates in the first 2 hours. The sides are strong enough to sit on and won’t bend so much that water falls out if you lean your arms back. It’s easy to forget it’s actually inflatable!

What’s the maintenance like?

Not too tough - we drain and refill ours about once a month to keep the water clean.

What about the chemicals?

Here is what you’ll need to get started:

Clorox Chlorinating Tablets: Put 8-10 of these tablets in the floating dispenser and that should last you a couple weeks.

Bio Ouster Clarifier & Cleaner: This is a great option to use about once a month to give the water a nice spruce if you don’t want to drain it that often.

How much does it cost?

We fortunately got ours before pricing went up a little, (I’m assuming due to COVID and rising popularity) but prices usually range from $350-$900. I’ve included a couple options on my amazon list for you look through that are quality and an affordable price.

What about storage?

Not using it as much as you thought or moving to a new house? Simply deflate and either put away and bring it with you to your new home. Easy as that.

Bottom line, this has been a wonderful way for Jake and I to relax at the end of the night and have some time together after the kiddos go down. We’ve even been using it lately as a mini-pool this summer by just shutting the heater off! If you have any questions that didn’t get covered here, feel free to comment below or DM me on my socials!!

Much love,

-SG
