Delicious Summer Cocktail Recipes
Summer is almost here! With COVID numbers declining and the temperatures rising, everyone’s looking forward to reconnecting with BBQ’s and beach days, which all usually include some day drinking…which I’ve found if you’re a parent (or over the age of 30) is pretty much the best way to go.
Since I’m not a mixologist but definitely appreciate the art of a great cocktail, I asked one of the pros - Connor Lawson, Bar Director at MioPosto, to give us some simple and delicious recipes for any sun-filled occasion. Make sure to stop in to any MioPosto location and sample the brand new cocktail menu that rolled out just in time for summer.
What’s the trick to a perfect summer cocktail?
“Balance!” says Lawson.
“Whether you are enjoying a spritz, a boozy classic cocktail such as a Martini or Manhattan, or a fresh squeezed cocktail like a Margarita or Daquiri, you will need to achieve a good balance of flavors and ingredients in order to build a refreshing summer beverage.”
Terraza Spritz
1.5oz Dry Vermouth
.75oz Silver Tequila
.75oz Aperol
.75oz fresh lime juice
.5oz simple syrup
Build in your favorite wine glass, with 3 lime wheels, top with soda.
Paloma
1.5oz Silver Tequila
.5oz each, fresh lime, grapefruit, and orange juices
.5oz Campari
.5oz simple syrup
Build in a mixing glass, shake/strain into a bucket glass with ice, garnish with an orange peel.
For the more adventurous cocktailers…
Barrel-Aged Manhattan

1 part Warrior Spirits Rye

Barreled Negroni
1 part Campari
1 part Brovo Jammy Vermouth
1 part Copperworks Barrel-Finished Gin
Age 90 days in charred oak barrels
Once aged, pour 4oz over ice. Stir/Strain into your favorite martini glass, garnish with an orange peel, and enjoy
(Disclaimer: this next recipe is NOT Lawson/Mixologist approved)
And if fancy and balanced aren’t your thing, you can also try one of my personal favorite specialties consisting of just two ingredients: Vodka and Gatorade. As far as measurements go, a good eye-ball pour will suffice. Pour over ice or directly into gatorade bottle for a true classy touch. Stay buzzed and hydrated for the more casual summer events you may partake in this summer! :)
A big thanks to Connor Lawson and MioPosto for contributing to such an important cause as this one. Happy Summer and Cheers!
